Located in Nanaimo on beautiful Vancouver Island, our history goes back almost 60 years to 1964 when Bill Stein and John Hart formed Island Shipping Limited, a merger of S&S Steamship and Vancouver Island Agencies. Brian O’Connell joined in 1990, and after the retirement of both Bill and John, took the helm and renamed the company to ISL Customs Brokers to better reflect the direction of the company as a customs broker. Over the next 30 years, ISL Customs Brokers worked hard to become your go-to customs broker on Vancouver Island. We represent both small local businesses and national and multi-national importers. We focus on providing individual attention to each client to build long-term relationships.

In 2019, ISL Customs Brokers became a part of the Summit family, becoming a division of Summit International Trade Services Inc., which also has a history just as long, but more importantly, a shared commitment to excellence in personalized and reliable service.
